Wash and Care

It is important to take care of your outdoor clothing, look after your gear correctly and you will maintain the garments performance and maximise its lifespan for many years.

To maximise your garments performance and lifespan we recommend only washing your garments when absolutely necessary. Over washing can break down the materials properties leading to poor performance and excessive damage to the fabrics construction.

Here you can find some tips for taking care of your outdoor clothing.

Use suitable detergents

Fabric softeners and other regular detergents can clog the pores of your garments fabric, affecting its breathability and waterproof qualities. Whether you are hand washing or machine washing your garment we strongly advise using a technical cleaner specifically designed for your outdoor clothing.

Do not damage your clothing

DO NOT TUMBLE DRY

Using a tumble dryer can shrink and damage your garment and its material composition. Hang your clothing on a clothes line to air dry, by doing this you will also help maintain its shape.

DO NOT IRON

Ironing your outdoor clothing will seriously damage the material functionality. The excessive heat from ironing will destroy your shell garments membrane causing it to lose the waterproof and breathability qualities.

Durable water repellency (DWR) re-impregnation

Once your garment has been washed it is now ready for DWR re-impregnation with either a ‘wash-in’ or ‘spray-on’ product.

Many of our garments, such as hiking pants and jackets, are treated with DWR impregnation. After a certain amount of use or washing, the DWR properties may fade. Therefore, it is important to re-impregnate your garment with a DWR treatment.

On our website, we offer ‘wash-in’ or ‘spray on’ DWR products that restore your garments DWR properties. They are easy and quick to apply, either by hand or machine wash, depending on your garments requirements.
